MUMBAI: The gorgeous Katrina Kaif won’t be able to marry her present love interest superstar Salman Khan and even if she does it won’t last long. This is what astrologers have predicted.

According to the predictions, Katrina will not marry Salman as they both are completely different people and do not get well with difference of opinion being the main negative aspect. There is no great compatibility between the two and Katrina should avoid taking Salman too seriously.

Astrologers maintain, Katrina’s upcoming film Blue will make her position strong while Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani won’t do well but Ranbir-Katrina will be the next hot onscreen couple.

Former CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite Died at 92

Posted by tfreak On July - 18 - 2009

legend
NEW YORK: Former CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite, whose authoritative delivery of news events from the John F. Kennedy assassination to the Apollo moon landing and Vietnam War, made him “the most trusted man in America,” died on Friday at age 92.

Cronkite died in New York after an illness, CBS said. His family issued a statement weeks ago that he had been suffering for some years with cerebrovascular disease and was not expected to recuperate.

His death coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, which took the first astronauts to the moon. Cronkite was a passionate chronicler of the space program and anniversary celebrations of Apollo 11 have featured frequent rebroadcasts of his coverage of the historic moon landing.

“He was the consummate television newsman,” said Don Hewitt, a longtime CBS News executive and creator of the long-running “60 Minutes” news program. “He had all the credentials to be a writer, an editor, a broadcaster. There was only one Walter Cronkite and there may never be another one.”

President Barack Obama said Cronkite “was someone we could trust to guide us through the most important issues of the day; a voice of certainty in an uncertain world. He was family. He invited us to believe in him, and he never let us down.”

Former President George W. Bush called Cronkite “an icon of American journalism.”

For nearly 20 years, millions of Americans tuned in to the “CBS Evening News” to hear the day’s major events as reported by Cronkite, whose avuncular manner and deep voice made his show the top-rated news program from 1969 until he retired in 1981 and was replaced by Dan Rather.

Cronkite’s demeanor inspired the nickname “Uncle Walter” and when he signed off his newscasts by saying, “And that’s the way it is,” few doubted him.

During his years at the CBS anchor desk, Cronkite was regularly voted the “most trusted man in America” in opinion polls. Senator Robert Kennedy was so impressed he asked Cronkite to run for public office.

“I don’t understand my impact or success,” Cronkite once said. “That my delivery is straight, even dull at times, is probably a valid criticism. But I built my reputation on honest, straightforward reporting. To do anything else would be phony.”

Writing in a blog on www.huffingtonpost.com in March 2006, Cronkite explained his signature “the way it is” signoff by saying, “To me, that encapsulates the newsman’s highest ideal: to report the facts as he sees them, without regard for the consequences or controversy that may ensue.”

Born Nov. 4, 1916, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Walter Leland Cronkite Jr. became a United Press correspondent in 1939. He was one of the first journalists accredited to American forces after the United States entered World War Two in 1941.

Cronkite flew on the first bombing raids over Germany, parachuting into the Netherlands with the 101st Airborne Division and landing with Allied troops at Normandy, but he never thought himself brave in World War Two.

“Personally, I feel I was an overweening coward in the war,” he once said. “I was scared to death all the time. I did everything possible to avoid getting into combat.”

Adam Lambert ‘American Idol’ runner-up tells MTV News

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards are already guaranteed to rate highly among fans of outrageous, rail-thin British comedians, country/pop queens and Stephenie Meyer’s sparkly vampires.

But it’s also going to play pretty well at Adam Lambert’s house.

See, the “American Idol” runner-up is a huge Muse fan. He covered the Brit rockers’ version of the 1964 song “Feeling Good” (from their 2001 album Origin of Symmetry) during Rat Pack week on “Idol,” and he’s begun working their song “Starlight” into his set on the American Idols Live! tour.
But he was unaware that Muse had been announced to play the 2009 VMAs (they’ll be debuting “Uprising,” the first single from their much-anticipated album The Resistance, BTW). So, on Thursday, just hours before the Idols Live! tour stop at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, MTV News decided to tell him the news. And needless to say, he was excited to hear it.

“I’m really excited, because I’ve never actually seen them in concert, so I’ll be tuning in for that!” Lambert said. “[Muse frontman] Matt Bellamy is the most incredible singer. His voice is unbelievable. It’s inspiring. Their music is dope. I think people will be in for a treat, and I hope that they blow up, because they’ve been around for a while, and their music is unbelievable.”

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards will take place September 13 at 9 p.m. ET. Nominees, celebrity presenters and additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks. To be the first to find out the inside scoop, follow the official Inside MTV Twitter account at Twitter.com/insidemtv.

After already committing to releasing a 15-inch OLED TV potentially as early as December 2009 in Korea, LG have now revealed their plans to have a 32-inch OLED display on the market in 2012. Suggesting that OLED would provide a new source of revenue, LG Display CEO Kwon Young-soo told press that the company’s focus is on larger panels rather than cellphone-sized versions.

This, the executive claimed, is because “the larger the display, the more efficient the OLED technology.” It’s certainly given the company’s HR department a boost: LG Display have apparently taken on 1,700 new staff in research and development this year.

“The commercial success of OLEDs hinges on how it shows its superiority compared to existing liquid crystal display (LCD) technologies. We will focus on TV panels rather than cell phone panels because the larger the display, the more efficient the OLED technology” Kwon Young-soo, CEO, LG Display

LG Display are still investing into LCD, however. After reporting a profit in Q2 2009 after panel prices rose and demand outstripped supply, the company is investing the equivalent of $2.59bn into an eighth-generation production line, which will be operational by the second half of 2010.

SB6309 Lighter Phone By AT&T

We have zero solid info on this one — price, real pictures, or any sort of availability anywhere — so, don’t hold your (nicotine-riddled) breath waiting for the SB6309 Lighter Phone to show at an AT&T Store near you. Even so, a phone with a cigarette lighter built-in is too good not to mention. Flip it over, slide back the protective cover, and press your cancer stick onto the glowing square — and do it quick, because that can’t be doing anything good for battery life. An interesting product in these increasingly health-conscious times, sure to be a hit in Japan at least where about 30 percent of adults can’t get through the day without lighting up. That is, of course, assuming this thing is real. The pics are all renders, and its website seems to be laced with some sort of malware. Click on through to see another picture of its three available colors we’ve dubbed “Bloody Spittle,” “Burnt Tobacco,” and “Emphysema.” They’re viewable here without any risk of giving your machine any sort of respiratory distress, but if you really want to live life dangerously, copy/paste the URL after the break into the appropriately wide box in your browser.

New Olympus E-P1 Roundup

Posted by tfreak On July - 17 - 2009

Olympus did its darnedest to drum up hype for the recently unveiled E-P1 Micro Four Thirds shooter, and while we already shared our two pennies on the thing, we figured it prudent to round up the best of the best from elsewhere on the web to give you a fuller picture. The long and short of it is this: the E-P1 is universally praised in terms of image quality, with the only real knock in that department going to higher-than-likable noise levels in low-light scenarios. Still, a camera is about more than just the output, and reviewers were quick to lament the dearth of an integrated viewfinder and flash. Furthermore, critics panned the camera for being slow to focus, oftentimes requiring well over half a second to finally settle and snap a shot. That said, we couldn’t find anyone who wasn’t won over by the image quality, but we’d make darn sure those other nuisances won’t frustrate you to no end before falling for the cute factor.
