Superstars can be quite blunt with their remarks on the other actors in the industry

At Star Plus’ Jashn 2010 - Dhamaka Naye Saal Ka when director and friend Karan Johar offered Shah Rukh Khan to be a part of Dostana Part 2, King Khan immediately turned down the offer and said that after sporting a six-pack he would not like to spoil his image of a macho man.

He added though that, on any given day, he would love to flirt with Abhishek Bachhan and John Abraham, but still not at the cost of his “straight” image. We wonder what wife Aishwarya Rai Bachhan has to say to this who was present right there!

Neha Dhupia made headlines with her line ‘In India only SRK and Sex sell’. Now the focus is on her again with Pritish Nandy Communications’ Raat Gayi Baat Gayi releasing tomorrow.

The movie, produced by Rangita Pritish Nandy and directed by Saurabh Shukla, won the best film award at the HBO Asian International Film Festival in New York last month. Neha plays the mysterious gorgeous woman hunted down by Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Dalip Tahil, after a night of lots of drinking, sex and zero memory! Ask her if it’s a bold role and she replies candidly, “If you are asking in terms of skin show, then no. But if being bold is a state of mind, then yes.” That’s Neha for you. What’s your take on one-night stands?
The problem with one-night stands is that you end up hurting so many people. As long as you are not hurting any one, it’s fine.

In Raat Gayi Baat Gayi you have a one-night stand with a married man…
There are seven characters in the film! Why do you assume it’s my character who’s had the one-night stand? Are you assuming that because I am attractive… Not fair!

Do you think the Indian audience is opening up to sex in movies?
Dev D was a big hit. Indian audiences are open to fantastic scripts. Raat Gayi… is a funny kind of a thrilling experience that takes you through a drunken night. You don’t really know what happened last night. The film is packed with a lot of emotions and it is very relatable. You can relate to one or the other character.

You’ve done movies of various genres… what’s your favourite?
It’s very hard for me to say that. Right from my roles in Singh Is Kinng, De Dana Dan, Mithya, Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local to Raat Gayi Baat Gayi, everything is challenging and at the same time everything is easy. I don’t over-intellectualise the whole acting medium. I’m not working because I have to work. I’m working because I really enjoy doing so.

Are you happy with the way your career has shaped up so far?
I am. I had made a few mistakes, but I don’t regret anything. They have been learning experiences. I have come a long way, but I also have a long way to go…

While the whole world believes that Katrina is recuperating in London with her family, a reliable London source tells us that she is actually in New York.

Incidentally, Ranbir Kapoor is also in New York shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Anjaana Anjaani. Coincidence? We don’t think so.

Post her surgery in Mumbai, Katrina flew off to London claiming to spend New Year’s Eve with her family. Katrina, who ushers in the New Year with her mother and siblings each year, was particularly thrilled about the family reunion this time round, because she was looking forward to playing with her sister’s little son. But apparently, family has been sidelined in favor of some companionship.

One can’t help but wonder how she planned to keep her jaunt to New York a secret. It’s a small, small world after all. When we called her grandmother’s place in London, a relative said, “Oh, but Katrina is in New York.”

However Katrina said, “I’m very much in London. It’s a joke in my family about me being in New York because I’m harassed by many calls.”

Kaif also skipped beau (or is it seriously ex-beau now) Salman Khan’s birthday in favour of New York. Ranbir and Katrina met on the sets of Raajneeti but their friendship really took off when they shot Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. For the last few months, Ranbir has been in an on-off relationship with Deepika Padukone while Katrina’s relationship with Salman Khan has slowly ground to a halt.

‘Bigg Boss Season 3’, soon to be telecasted on Colors, will have some unique elements which were not there in earlier seasons. The channel claims that popularity of ‘Bigg Boss Season 3’ will surpass popularity of first two seasons of Bigg Boss.

What’s Your Raashee? starring Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja releasing today in India, but the film already has received great applause at just finished Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film premiered at the closing day (19 September) of the festival was a sold-out show. Despite the strong breeze and seasonal chill, over 2000 people attended the premier at the famous Roy Thomson hall.

Actors Priyanka Chopra, Harman Baweja, director Ashutosh Gowarikar and producers Ronnie Screwvala and Sunita A Gowaarikar were present at the event. The audience entering to the hall was lot excited; however while returning also they had the same excitement. Now they were waiting to catch it again in theatres.

Olympic hopefuls in India have been given a massive boost after the country’s cricket chiefs said they would plough millions of dollars into helping nurture future medal winners. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the move was inspired by India’s showing at the Beijing Games, where they picked up three medals - beating their record of two - which included their first gold since 1980 and two bronzes. The BCCI said it would donate 11 million dollars a year to the National Sports Development Fund, which was set up in 1998 by the government to mobilise resources for sports other than cricket, which is by far the most popular sport in the country. Rifle shooter Abhinav Bindra won the country’s first ever individual Olympic gold in 10 metre event, while wrestler Sushil Kumar and boxer Vijender Kumar each won a bronze. The last time India took gold was in hockey at the Moscow Games. “We contributed nearly one million dollars to support all our Beijing bound athletes,” BCCI chief executive Ratnakar Shetty told AFP on Monday. “But we have now decided to set aside eleven million dollars annually in view of the country’s show in the Beijing Games. “This fund would be initially used to assist prospective medal winners in boxing, judo, swimming and archery. But we are open to helping any other deserving sportsperson from any other discipline.” Shetty said the BCCI will soon announce a committee to make sure the money was not misused. “The credit for this unique initiative taken by the Board goes solely to our president Sharad Pawar, who first thought about it last year. After Pawar’s proposal, we amended the Board’s constitution as it did not provide for spending funds on any activity not related to cricket,” He added. Shetty said the BCCI could afford to assist other sports since its income had almost doubled in the past three years. “We increased our spending on infrastructure development manifold and also started a monthly gratis scheme for former players and officials. After meeting all our targets, we decided to help other sports.” Sports Minister Manohar Singh Gill was quick to express gratitude, saying: “BCCI is our richest sports body and Pawar has been kind enough to give an annual grant of eleven million dollars for development of Olympic sports. “This gesture, just when the country has done so well in the Beijing Olympics, will be welcomed by all our people and will give a boost to sports which have been suffering due to lack of adequate finances.” The BCCI has also announced cash awards for the medal winning trio, with Bindra set to take home 60,000 dollars and the Kumars 23,000 dollars each. Private funding started pouring in for disciplines other than cricket only recently after the government struggled to put aside money to raise sporting standards. The situation was so bad that Indian shooting officials were on the verge of pulling the team out of the Beijing Olympics before the sports ministry and private sponsors stepped in. Link

‘Kaminey’ is one film of its kind and the fans of Shahid Kapoor are definitely going in for a surprise! Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Kaminey’ has the actor in a character that’s completely opposite his image, hard-hitting and raw! After delivering solo 3 hits in a row, Shahid will again will be seen in one more solo starrer ‘Kaminey’, which the industry feel is quite commendable. Just imagine, Sweety is someone who comes from a lower middle class family, lives in a chawl and is a college going 22 year old girl.
