KARACHI: Pakistan’s top judge has said that corruption in the institution of judiciary would not be tolerated at any cost.
Addressing a ceremony held by the Sindh High Court on Saturday night, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry asked the judges of higher and subordinate courts to ensure that dispensation of justice becomes noticeable among masses.
He said judges should carry on performing their duties without any fear or being intimidated.
He said 0.3 million cases were disposed of in only a brief period of one month, and that speaks volumes about the hard work and effort being put in by the country’s judiciary.
The chief justice of Pakistan said he had received many complaints of corruption against judges, but only those would be entertained which carry some genuine evidence of wrongdoing.
