Big names from Bollywood - including Shabana Azmi, Saif Ali Khan and Aamir Khan - have faced similar stories of exclusion. They have not been able to get an NOC to buy property in posh areas of Bombay simply because of the fact that they are Muslim. And recently Emran Hashmi joined that list of Muslim actors.
“Do I look like a criminal or a terrorist?” he asked, claiming that he was denied a house in Mumbai’s posh Pali Hill locality because he is Muslim. The issue in India has, predictably, exploded into a face-off between those who believe that Hashmi’s is a high-profile case of a prejudice all too familiar, while others claim that he is a privileged celebrity milking the occasion for easy publicity.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for one has criticized the star, accusing him of projecting his personal problems as that of all Muslims. BJP representatives have issued an FIR against him, saying he is sparking off communal unrest.
“One actor is trying to associate his personal issue with a community. This will aggravate the distrust within society towards the minority community instead of creating sympathy for them,” BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.
Surprisingly, while Emraan’s ‘godfather’ Mahesh Bhatt as stood by him, his fellow Muslim actors Salman and Shah Rukh Khan have brushed his complaints aside. Salman commented that if religious profiling happened in India then Emraan Hashmi would not have been a star. He added that this incident could have happened due to Emraan’s individual character rather than his religious beliefs. Shah Rukh Khan also brushed the issue aside, saying that he had never felt discriminated in his life. One has to remember that SRK did take the safe way out after Muslims were being discriminated post 26/11.
We feel that Emraan Hashmi has a point.

Saif Ali Khan really knows how to create headlines. If Love Aaj Kal isn’t doing as mind-blowingly well as everyone expected it to, Saif has managed to take the attention off it by declaring in an interview with CNN-IBN that if he had starred with Shah Rukh Khan in Dostana, he’d definitely have kissed him.
Saif - who was offered a role in the film - declined the offer because according to him, “I think there was Abhishek (Bachchan) and Aishwarya (Rai Bachchan) at the time that I was being offered the movie and I was just wondering whether I needed to do that or how I fit in and I pretty much told Karan (Johar) that.” When pressed if it was the gay plotline that scared him off, Saif replied, “The gay thing didn’t scare me off. In fact I don’t think they (John Abraham and Abhishek) actually kissed. They should have. I would have.”
As the interviewer quipped that Shah Rukh Khan had said the same thing, Saif replied, “And I would have kissed him. Yeah yeah, because I think we think like that. That would have given everyone something to talk about.”

Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor are the latest couple to sizzle around the industry. Well it was recently reported that Shahid has opted out from performing a song with PC from their upcoming film Kaminey in IIFA Awards.
The handsome hunk is busy with his commitment of Ken Ghosh flick. On the other side the vivacious actress is busy shooting in Singapore for Yash Raj movie Pyar Impossible.
“Priyanka was very eager to perform on the song from Kaminey but due to her prior commitments to Yash Raj, she won’t be performing this year,” says a person close to Priyanka.
It was also reported that PC will be giving a miss to the Awards. “Well she was but then she decided to attend the function and return back to her shoot later. She doesn’t have time to rehearse and perform but will be attending the awards,” concludes the source.

Shahid Kapoor is all set to portray his real life passion on screen - Dancing. The hunk will be seen as dancer in his next flick Yahoo.
Designer Shabina Khan reveals, “In Yahoo, Shahid is playing a rookie who wants to become a great dancer. The story moves around his struggle period and how he becomes a dancer.”
When quizzed about Shahid’s look in the movie, she reveals, “It is a boy next door look.
Keeping in mind he is a dancer, I have designed his clothes. So he will be seen wearing casual T-Shirts and Jeans.”
Shahid will also be seen sporting a new tanned look for the movie and also has lost oodles of weight for the role.Shahid reveals, “I had to lose a lot of my muscle mass as dancers have lean bodies. My work out schedule had to be changed and instead of weights, I am doing more of cardio.” Yahoo will release in 2009.

Karan Johar, presently busy shooting for My Name is Khan, has already locked on his next film as director. Reports say that Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan have agreed to be a part of Karan’s project. There is no doubt in the fact that Karan is fond of both Ranbir and Imran. In fact, he loved their act at an awards function this year. It seems the two have great personal chemistry that could translate well on the big screen.
