Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye

Posted by tfreak On June - 8 - 2009

mere-khwabon-mein-jo-aaye1Bollywood actress Raima Sen will be seen living out her fantasy as the lead in Madhureeta Anand’s directorial debut Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye, about a woman’s quest for her dreams.

Releasing Friday, the film has been co-produced by PVR Pictures and Madhureeta’s company Eka Films Pvt Ltd and stars Arbaaz Khan and Randeep Hooda along with Raima in the lead.

Before becoming a feature film director, Madhureeta made various award-winning documentaries for the BBC and the National Geographic channel and a digital short film on child abuse - Walking On A Moonbeam. Her Mere Khwabon… is being touted as a dramatic comedy.

The film has managed to hog the limelight for Randeep’s portrayal of 18 different characters defined by Madhureeta as “a woman’s fantasy” and he “appears before her in different forms”.

“Randeep is basically the same person who appears in different forms on various occasions. He will be seen playing various characters including Elvis Presley, Zorro, James Bond or even Bollywood’s legendary actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra,” Madhureeta has told.

“Besides, he will also be seen in various other ordinary characters like a music guru or a cop,” she added.

Rumours were rife that the film is based on Madhureeta’s life, which she rubbished.

“Every first time director tends to bring his or her real life experience in the film. So my film is based on some of my real life experiences, but it is definitely not based on my life story,” she asserted.

Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye revolves around a homemaker Maya (Raima), married to a chauvinistic man Vikram (Arbaaz).

She aspired to be a singer but could not pursue her dreams because of a condition laid down by her spouse. Vikram keeps suppressing her self-esteem until she finds out that he has an extra-marital affair.

She is shattered and that’s when her imaginary friend and dream man Jai (Randeep) comes along and becomes her medium to a new world. She receives a signing contract from a music label but is again brought to the crossroads by an ultimatum given by Vikram.

Not many know that apart from the usual rehearsals before the scenes, the actors for the film also had to undergo music instrument lessons.

Raima took lessons on the harmonium and Randeep tested his skills in playing the flute to fit into their roles.

Considering that the last releases of both Raima and Randeep - C-Kkompany and Ru-Ba-RuMere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye. respectively - were box office duds, one can hope for the best for theirMere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye.

pankhThe film is the story of the repercussions that have happened to a boy - a child artist who once played girl roles in films as Baby Kusum - once he becomes an adult and wants to be launched as a hero. Baby Kusum is a child star, a cute little girl.

In reality, Baby Kusum is boy, masquerading as a girl. He was christened Jerry, and then named Master Jai for the movies. He and his mother Mary (Lilette) share a turbulent relationship. The boy’s family is poor and they want to make it big. The pressure of parents and ridicule make it a very sad situation for him. He becomes a drug-abuser who has never been to school and spends all his time at home.

Eventually he creates an imaginary character he is in love with, & that imaginary character happens to be Bipasha who taunts him and fights with him, an alter ego who questions his every move. Jerry is made to face the camera again as a young man, which leads to the final catastrophe. Partition

Posted by tfreak On June - 8 - 2009

partitionHonestly, you’re glad that you didn’t see this one in the company of Sunny Deol. Or else, he would have surely tightened his fists (ouch), let off one of his blood-curdling yells (aaargh) and even broken into a rendition of main nikla gaddi lekar (deadly dhinchik dhinchak).

Vic Sarin’s Partition is an all too neat and tidy version of the Gadar love story between a Sikh man and a Muslim girl at the time of separation. Actually dearie Divya Dutta went through the same Indo-Pak marriage with Gurdas Mann in Shaheed-e-Mohabbat even before Sunnyji did with Ameesha Patel in her pre-sizzler-item-girl days.

The romance which knows no borders is also mentioned in Freedom at Midnight by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre. Now surely, Sarin could have discovered another cross-border story instead of re-shooting the oft-told one in what looks suspiciously like British Columbia. Here people also speak English dialogue in a bewildering variety of accents, including Vinay Pathak glimpsed in a Kanhaiyalal-grocer-kind-of role, Madhur Jaffrey as a mom who doesn’t cook, and Irrfan Khan who dons yet another curly beard. Weird.

Now, don’t look so tired… just say hello to the partitioned lovers Gian (Mistry) and Naseem (Kreuk). Soon, they have this adorable kid but are separated to ultimately reunite at Lahore station. Meanwhile, an antique old train chugs and chugs and chugs into the platform. No free Gadar music CDs for guessing the ending.

Apologies again. This Partition isn’t recommended at all, except perhaps to Sunny Deol, pre-sizzler Ameesha Patel, Gurdas Mann and Divya Dutta. They might like it, you didn’t.
Cast: Jimi Mistry, Kristin Kreuk
Director: Vic Sarin

Blue

Posted by tfreak On June - 8 - 2009

blueA treasure lays buried deep at the bottom of an ocean. There are many people who want to get there by risking life, be it theirs or someone else’s.

‘Blue’ is touted as Bollywood’s first underwater, action adventure thriller. Directed by Anthony D’Souza , the movie is inspired from Hollywood flicks like ‘The Deep’ or ‘Jaws’, but it is not a copy.

The film is about a lost treasure, which three friends try to find undersea. Akshay Kumar , Sanjay Dutt and Zayed Khan play the respective roles.

But in this hunt for the treasure, there’s deceit and betrayal by someone in the group.

Lara Dutta is paired with Sanjay Dutt in the film. The actress did not know deep sea diving before signing the film and underwent a rigorous Scuba diving training to prepare for her role.

The movie’s second heroine Katrina Kaif doesn’t have a big role. But director D’Souza says Kat will surprise the audiences with her role. Sunil Shetty also has a brief role in the film.

Most of ‘Blue’ has been shot in the Bahamas. Akshay, Sanjay and Zayed swam with real sharks while shooting their stunts in the film.

While shooting one such stunt under water, Akshay Kumar had a narrow escape when he accidentally hit his head against the metal of a sunken ship and began bleeding. Blood attracted the sharks, but before any mishap could happen, the actor was safely pulled above water.

To tone up his muscles, Sanjay Dutt hired the services of a special body building trainer from the US – Lawrence Gonsalves, who guided the actor on losing his former beefy body and developing a leaner physique.

Special water-resistant make-up was required for the film’s leading lady Lara Dutta. For that the producers roped in Hollywood make up artist Nikoletta Skarlatos.

‘Blue’ also feature a special appearance by Australian pop sensation Kylie Minogue who has not only sung for the film but also shot a sizzling video with Akshay Kumar.

Oscar winner A R Rahman has composed the tunes of the film’s songs. In fact, Kylie Minogue agreed to sing and dance to her song in the film because she was captivated by Rahman’s composition.

The movie apparently also has an underwater song picturized on the entire cast.

With a budget of over Rs 100 crores, ‘Blue’ is touted as Bollywood’s most expensive film to date. Made under the banner of Shri Ashtavinayak Cinevision, the movie is set to release in May, 2009.
