Shilpa Shetty is planning to get saucier than ever and launch her own range of ready-made food, a report has claimed. She is also considering starting a chain of restaurants in honour of her Big Brother co-participant Jade Goody, who died in March. And the ready made food she plans to begin her new business with is poppadoms. One must remember that Jade Goody called her “Shilpa Poppa-dom” on Big Brother, which then sparked the whole racial row. “Shilpa thinks Jade will have a little chuckle in heaven about the poppadoms,” the Daily Star quoted a source as saying. Shilpa’s chicken curry, which divided the house with accusations of under-cooked meat and excessive use of onions, is also expected to be included in the menu. “She has been inundated with requests for her curry recipe and one day she just thought: ‘Why don’t I just create my own range? One of Shilpa’s passions in life is healthy living so she wanted to incorporate that into her dishes,” the source added.
While career expansion is something everyone is entitled to, one does think that Shilpa’s failure as an actress in Bollywood is pushing her to looking at parallel careers elsewhere. And she is breaking all records for diversity. In the last two years, she has launched perfumes, recorded yoga/exercise DVDs and she has worked on a spa project amongst several TV projects. In February this year Shilpa and her partner Raj Kundra became owners of the India Premiere League franchise cricket team Rajasthan Royals. And now she wants to step into the healthy food business by opening a chain of curry houses. Only Shilpa can explain how any curry can be considered healthy but we’d love to see her trying.

Vishal Bharadwaj’s film Kaminey tells the story of two twin brothers who hate and avoid each other like plague until life makes their paths cross. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Amole Gupte in lead roles.
The movie is a typical Vishal Bharadwaj brand of cinema. The characters are devoid of any glamour. Even the locations are rustic and hard hitting. The locations like Goregoan Station, Wadi Bunder and Kandivali junkyards and many such locations of Mumbai and Pune too add to the rawness in the film.
‘Kaminey’ is one film of its kind and the fans of Shahid Kapoor are definitely going in for a surprise! Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Kaminey’ has the actor in a character that’s completely opposite his image, hard-hitting and raw! After delivering solo 3 hits in a row, Shahid will again will be seen in one more solo starrer ‘Kaminey’, which the industry feel is quite commendable. Keeping the entire mood of the story in mind, Shahid has a look of a guy who is absolutely raw, hard and tough. This is for the first time that Shahid will be seen playing this kind of a character. It is in complete contrast to image that he has built up through films like ‘Vivah’, ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Kismat Konnections’.
“My audiences have seen me in romantic films and love stories; I hope that they will feel happy about the fact that I’m doing something different. The girls went crazy while watching Shahid running bare-bodied with horses in the trailers of Kaminey. His zara hatke role in Kaminey is sure to give him a top billing among other actors. Shahid, sure had a lot to say but he felt bettered to keep quite as he didn’t want to take any risk with his rising career. And lastly (hopefully) the film’s release has been postponed for the next three days, in the entire Maharashtra due to spread of Swine Flu.
Hopefully the dark shadows from the film will soon be lifted and the movie will do great at the Box Office and help Shahid become one of the most wanted actors in Bollywood.

The Chote Nawab, Saif Ali Khan is the reigning prince of hearts of one and all. After a complete turnaround post Dil Chahta Hai there was no looking back as he juggled his revived career and lady love Kareena.
The Little Prince was born to the Nawab of Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore, a Bengali actress in Bollywood. Director and choreographer Farah Khan is ready to take on her new role as chat show
host. Her show Tere Mere Beech Mein gets celebs and the ‘aam aadmi’ together for entertainment packaged with a social message.
Says Farah, “I had been getting offers for such shows for a long time, but I wanted to do something meaningful. I wasn’t keen on doing a typical celeb show also because it has already been done quite well by Karan (Johar, who hosted Koffee With Karan) and Simi (Garewal).”
The director, who has the A-list of Bollywood as her close friends, admits, “For the first season, the channel was keen to get celebs as this would get the show more attention … and I guess this will help us pass on the social message too more effectively.”
Viewers can look forward to watching several celebrities on the show, like Bipasha Basu, Shilpa Shetty, Shahid Kapoor, Genelia D’Souza, Salman Khan and of course, her favourite producer, actor and pal Shah Rukh Khan. But, with a twist! Each show comes with a theme where the celebs are put on the same platform as the common man.
Farah explains, “Shilpa and Bipasha are daughters who have taken on the responsibilities of their families, traditionally a son’s role. With them, we had a girl from a chawl, who is working to pay off her father’s debts even as her two brothers do nothing to help.”
Genelia and Shahid, stars who got a second shot at shining on the Bollywood marquee with Jaane Tu.. and Jab We Met respectively, come in the segment on “second chances” and were accompanied by a paraplegic who had built himself a car which he could race on the tracks without using his legs. “Genelia was so moved that she broke down and we had to halt shooting till she recovered,” reveals the newbie host.
And while Sonam Kapoor and Karan Johar come on the “weight” issue, as individuals who successfully lost tons of weight, Kareena Kapoor will feature in a segment where she talks about boyfriend Saif Ali Khan, and falling in love with someone from another religious community. Priyanka Chopra and boxer Vijender make an appearance as “small-town” folk who hit the big league.
The show will unveil a never-seen-before side to the stars, promises Farah. For instance, in Salman’s segment, we get to know how Bollywood’s superbrat is still a mama’s boy and chooses to lives in a one-bedroom apartment so that he can live next door to his mom. His father also tells us that the actor falls in love with actresses and then tries to find his mother in them!
The star, who is known to be generous to a fault, having recently been in the news for handing out Rs 25,000 to a beggar, also regularly runs out of money. Farah shares, “Salman is constantly distributing his money to help others and then finally ends up taking pocket money from his parents!”
The segment with Shah Rukh has him make an appearance with his mother-in-law and shows him for the “joru ka gulaam” that he is! “People will see him as a regular guy who also has a mother-in-law like anyone else … on the show, he gives tips to the ‘ordinary’ man on how to stand up to his wife,” says Farah.
And, is husband Shirish Kunder a ‘joru ka gulaam’ too? Contrary to popular perception, she emphatically states, “While a lot of our decisions are jointly taken, Shirish is quite dominating.”
She’s nonchalant, though, on how she manages to manage triplets and a new show, “The show required me to shoot for barely two months for 13 episodes.”

News of Dostana 2 has been doing the rounds for quite some time now, with Katrina Kaif being the hot favourite to replace Priyanka Chopra. But apparently it wasn’t an easy decision to make as Karan Johar had serious (and not unfounded) doubts about her acting abilities. And he wanted a fresher face But apparently he wasn’t inspired by the hundreds of aspirats who had auditioned for the role and Johar was even ready to settle on re-casting Priyanka. It was apparently director Tarun Mansukhani who drew Karan Johar’s attention to the fact that despite her acting deficiency, Katrina Kaif was admired by the worldwide audience, and had the highest number of search hits on Google. Plus, amongst all new heroines, she had the most hit films - New York, Singh Is Kinng, Welcome, Partner, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya – to her credit.
Now the catch is that getting Katrina onboard might create problems for the films hero, Abhishek Bachchan because Kats had snatched the ‘Barbie doll’ deal from Aishwarya Rai, and the latter certainly did not like it. Ash is not happy with the casting and might even go far enough to create problems on the set. It’ll be an interesting few months up ahead. With Arjun Rampal and Ritesh Deshmukh also featuring in the sequel of the hit film, one can be sure that this dostana will sure be rocking!

There is sad news for all Deepika Padukone fans. The pretty actress, who is currently in London shooting for Sajid Khan’s Housefull, is down with malaria since the last four days. While she continued shooting for some time, she couldn’t help but cancel the shoot yesterday due to her frail health.
A source from the unit of Housefull said, “Deepika recently shot for a soap ad with Pradeep Sarkar, in which she had to be under the shower for a long duration. She’s been feeling under the weather since a few days. On Tuesday, she visited a nearby hospital to get her medical reports and she was diagnosed with malaria. Yesterday, she was feeling so weak that she did not shoot for the film at all. She’s making it a point to get adequate rest because she has a long shoot schedule ahead and she also has to be in Mumbai for a couple of days to promote Love Aaj Kal.”
“Deepika was upset that the shoot was called off because of her but Sajid and the rest of the crew insisted that she take rest. Earlier too she had shot for Om Shanti Om when she was seriously ill and she did the same this time. But yesterday, she was so unwell that she couldn’t manage to get out of bed,” added the source.

If rumours are to be believed, Saif Ali Khan went for Botox to look younger and fresher opposite Deepika Padukone in Love Aaj Kal. That and he has to play a young college going guy… and that’s pretty difficult to do when you are 38 years old as the (not so) chhote nawab is.
He apparently had the the artificial face lifting treatment in London, removing his wrinkles. A close source to the actor revealed to Bollywood Mantra.com, “Saif was wearing shades to a lot of events just after he got the job done. This was to hide the telltale signs. Now that the after-effects have worn out, he steps out in day light without the shades.”
Saif and Kareena are rubbing off on each other it seems. In Tashan, Saif did look out of shape compared to the super svelte Kareena who has become unbelievably toned over the years. She’s looking WOW in Kambakht Ishq in which she stars with Akshay. The Indian papers are full of the number of times they kissed on camera, but we hardly think that’s newsworthy. It’s just something people get cheap thrills out of. They are professional actors for crying out loud.
What’s more interesting that Love Aaj Kal and Kambakht Ishq are going to go head to head in a fight to the top – Bollywood ishtyle. A lot of expectations are riding on both films. And as long as they are together, whichever film proves to be the bigger blockbuster, Saif and Kareena will have a reason to celebrate.
Here’s to Bollywood then and to love, even if it is kambakht, but we do not approve of Botox. Growing old gracefully will always remain the cooler thing to do.
